David Hecht, Managing Director
R.A., NCARB, LEED AP
Trained as an architect, David approaches real estate as a series of design problems: challenges to be distilled to their essence and solved through simple solutions with broad impact. Rooted in the belief that good design creates lasting value, David leads design, construction, strategy, and project management efforts for Ajax Holdings.
Prior to joining Ajax Holdings, David co-founded Abri Design + Development to pursue design-focused residential and hospitality projects in the greater New Orleans area. Abri completed May & Ellis, the adaptive re-use of an historic French Quarter warehouse and, in partnership with Ajax, led the design and entitlement of a large-scale mixed-use hospitality project in the Arts & Warehouse District. David previously lived and worked in New York City, where he led all phases of development and architecture for Barrett Design & Development. As a Senior Architect with TEN Arquitectos, a renowned global design practice, David directed the design of complex projects of up to 1.3 million square feet, headed the international competition winning team for the 2015 Pan-Am Games and led the design and construction of Hotel Americano.
David holds Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Urban Studies degrees from Yale University, is a graduate of the New Orleans regional leadership Institute (NORLI), serves as a member of the Youth Empowerment Project 40 under 40 and is on the board of the NOCCA Institute.
